CENTRE: Centre resets after year off

Staff writer

After a canceled 2020 season, Centre track is returning three 2019 letter winners: seniors Alyssa and Samantha Espinoza and junior Carly Deines.

Alyssa competes in triple jump and Samantha and Carly participate in long jump. All three will be on the 4x100-relay team.

The other members of the team are senior Cecilia Rziha, junior Luke Hudson, sophomores Lili Espinoza and Anthony Rziha, and freshmen Mariah Brasch, Michelle Brasch, Michael Herrera, Destiny Howe, Colby Janow, Nick Krch, Sophia Luna, and Allie Stuchlik.

Coach Alan Stahlecker said practice began last week, and which events the newcomers will participate in has yet to be determined.

“They are all working hard and developing their skills, and I expect them to continue to do so,” he said. “Some of them will certainly develop into athletes who are able to compete well at the high school level.”

Sherri Hudson is Stahlecker’s assistant.
