It wasn’t the best game Centre has played this year, but the contest against White City Dec. 16 at home resulted in a 64-36 victory for the Cougars.

Ben Krause, Konley Harding, and Jim Weber brought Centre to an 11-7 lead as the clock wound down at the end of the first quarter when Canh Antoszyk hit an amazing three-pointer from far afield as the buzzer sounded, giving Centre a five-point lead.

Tanner Brunner added his efforts to Weber, Harding, and Antoszyk in the second quarter to increase Centre’s lead to 17 points, 33-16, at halftime.

Trevor Troutt got his first basket of the game in the third quarter while Weber remained hot, adding nine points, including four free throws on a foul and a technical against the White City coach. Brian Burhoop and Brunner each made a field goal, and Centre led 48-28.

Troutt made four layups in the fourth quarter, and Krause, Weber, Brunner, and Alex Hajek also scored, contributing to the final 28-point victory.

Weber was Centre’s leading scorer, with at least 23 points. Troutt scored 10 points.

The junior varsity B-team defeated White City, 61-27. Rustyn Kerbs scored 15 points and Tyler Klenda scored 13 points. Jacob Jirak also scored in double figures, with 10 points.

The C-team defeated White City, 61-20. Scoring in double figures were Trevor Hageberg 15, Ben Seeman 14, and Mikael Antoszyk 10.
