The Centre girls’ basketball game against White City Friday wasn’t much of a contest. The Lady Cougars won handily, 49-31.
After a 10-0 first-quarter lead, the outcome seemed certain. However, the Lady Huskies got within three points, 16-13, in the second quarter before Centre pulled farther and farther away.
The Lady Cougars led, 28-16, at halftime and finished with an 18-point victory.
Allison Shields was the leading scorer with 15 points, followed by Ripley Howard with 12. Other scorers were Carlye Simons, 7, DJ Turner and Samantha Seifert, 6 each, and Josie Peterson, 3.
The junior varsity was defeated, 25-11. Scorers were Theo Kassebaum, 4, Genesis Rudolph, 3, and Beka Basore and Mikayla Antoszyk, 2 each.
Flint Hills Christian
In a game played Jan. 26 at Manhattan, the Lady Cougars won an easy 38-15 victory against Flint Hills Christian.
Simons led scoring with 10 points, followed by Shields with 8.
Tuesday night game
The girls played Solomon Tuesday at home, losing, 47-39.
