The Centre Junior High School football team is off to a great start with a 38-6 victory over Goessel Thursday at home.
The Cougars scored five touchdowns. The Bluebirds scored one touchdown in the third quarter.
The Cougars rushed for 75 yards in 22 carries. Goessel netted a loss on the ground of 18 yards after 25 carries, but gained 47 yards on three completed passes.
James Wyatt scored the first touchdown on a 52-yard kick return. Quarterback Justin Deines connected with Houston Svoboda for the conversion run.
Kyle Methvin found the end zone twice in the second quarter, on 15-yard and 22-yard passes from Deines. Ty Simons caught a pass and Wyatt ran for the four extra points.
In the fourth quarter, Wyatt ran 27 yards to the goal line and Kendall Harding ran in from the one-yard line, to add two more Cougar touchdowns. Harding ran for the conversion on his own scoring run, and the Cougars walked away with a 32-point win.
