CENTRE: CJHS Girls Basketball

Centre Junior High School girls’ basketball team played Marion Middle School Monday at home. It was an uneven 3A against 1A matchup.

The A-team was defeated, 28-15. After a 12-3 lead by Marion in the first quarter, Centre held Marion scoreless in the second at 5-0. Marion returned the favor in the third quarter, outscoring Centre 12-0.

Centre outscored Marion 7-4 in the fourth quarter but walked away with a 13-point loss.

Cacey Simons led scoring for Centre with seven points. Bryanna Svoboda, Makenzie Deines, and Ellie Miller each scored two points, and Anna Weber and Genesis Rudolph each added one.

The B-team was defeated, 32-14. Amy Makovec led Centre’s scoring with six points. Mikayla Antoszyk scored four points, and Becca Basore and Deines each added two.

They play Hope Thursday in another home game. Games begin at 5 p.m.
