CENTRE: CJHS track team does well in Hope relays

Centre Junior High School students Bryanna Svoboda, Cacey Simons, Shelby Makovec, and Kyle Methvin earned first-place finishes May 5 in the Hope relays at Abilene. A 400-meter relay team of Grant Srajer, Ty Simons, Tanner Peterson, and Methvin also finished in first place.

Svoboda placed first in the 100, 200, and 400; Simons placed first in high jump; Makovec was first in the 1600; and Methvin won the shot put. Methvin placed second in the boys 100 and third in the 200.

Brenna Shields finished second in the 400 and long jump and third in the 100m dash.

Srajer finished second in boys long jump and triple jump. Nellie Kassebaum finished third in the 1600.

At Goessel

Makovec finished in first-place in the 800 May 3 at the 12-team Goessel invitational track meet. She placed second in the 1600.

The other top finisher was eighth-grader Chad Mueller, who placed second in the 3200.

Finishing in third place were Mueller in the 1600; Cacey Simons in high jump; and seventh-grader Mark Vinduska in shot put.
