Centre, Dickinson Co. to co-manage endowed fund

Staff writer

Centre Education Foundation, Inc. (CEF) and the Community Foundation of Dickinson County, Inc. have entered into an agreement for management of an endowed fund supported by recent gifts of $5,000 to CEF.

The two gifts were donated by anonymous contributors.

“These generous gifts will be used to establish an endowed fund with the Community Foundation of Dickinson County, Inc.,” said Ronnie Carlson, president of the Centre Education Foundation, Inc. “Additional gifts to CEF will be eligible for Kansas Health Foundation matching grant funds managed by the community foundation.”

The Kansas Health Foundation’s initiative, “School Endowment Challenge,” matches new endowed gifts two to one, according to Kristine Meyer, president of the Dickinson County Community Foundation.

“We are pleased to have this opportunity to work with Centre’s foundation and to help that foundation manage its funds for the benefit of Centre students and teachers,” she said. “Centre Education Foundation trustees are wise to utilize this matching grant opportunity, which has limited availability.”

Centre USD superintendent and foundation trustee Jerri Kemble encourages others to donate to the fund in recognition and celebration of the 50th anniversary of Centre’s organization as a school district.

“Centre has such great support from its alumni and patrons,” she said. “We hope to receive additional donations this fall, as our school celebrates 50 strong years of providing quality education to students.”

All gifts to CEF are tax-deductible. The foundation received 501(c)(3) status in May 2007. Persons who are interested in giving to the foundation may contact the district office at 785-983-4304 for a brochure or read more online at www.usd397.com.

The CEF board of trustees serve on a voluntary basis. They are: Carlson, president; Terry Vinduska, vice president; Jennifer Kassebaum, secretary; Betty Bevan, treasurer; Jesse Brunner, Tracy Brunner, and Kemble.
