Centre drops baseball purchase
Centre’s school board voted Monday to cancel purchase of up to $24,000 worth of baseball equipment because not enough students are interested in forming a team.
The board also extended by one hour, until 6 p.m., to hours of the district’s new day-care center. To accommodate parents who have a distance to drive to pick up children after work.
The board accepted the resignation of Kelly Steiner as high school football coach. Emily Hutchison was hired as volleyball coach.
Superintendent Larry Geist reported that groundbreaking for a new building project would be around April 1.
The board approved transportation of after-prom participants to Top Golf in Wichita.
It also raised the ceiling of the districts’ local option budget from 31.6% to 33% for next year.
