Centre FFA participated in and hosted the South Central District Leadership School on Nov. 11.
Fifteen schools participated, with Centre placing second in the senior division par-law contest. The team had the highest written exam score. Team members were Tanner Brunner, Brian Burhoop, Cole Svoboda, Theo Kassebaum, Carrie Carlson, and Bryanna Svoboda. The team qualified to compete at the state competition in June during the Kansas FFA Convention.
Centre also had three Greenhand (freshmen) par-law teams. The teams placed second, third, and sixth. Members were Amy Makovec, Karl Riffel, Timothy Vinduska, Makenzie Deines, Chad Mueller, Tanner Peterson, Ty Simons, Yvonne Calvert, Grant Srajer, Braden Pagenkopf, Terren Thompson, Kayleen Miller, Kristy Lang, Kevin Lewis, Kyle Methvin, Bryanna Svoboda, and Angel Riemen.
All par-law teams also competed in the opening ceremony ritual contest. Bryanna Svoboda was recognized as the top sentinel in the Greenhand division.
The South Central District also held a creed speaking competition. Twenty-six students from 13 schools competed in the event. Kevin Lewis and Makenzie Deines represented Centre FFA. Kevin was the overall winner and will advance to the state competition in June. Makenzie placed third overall.
Timothy Vinduska and Amy Makovec were recognized for placing sixth and eighth, respectively, in the Greenhand information test.
More than 200 students from the South Central District competed in this event.
Centre FFA alumni served pizza for contestants.
Students who served as room monitors and time speakers were Nellie Kassebaum, Beka Basore, Genesis Rudolph, Tom Oborny, Cassidy Hill, Jerami Slayden, Anna Weber, Justin Deines, and D.J. Turner.
Alumni members who assisted with the event were Francie Muller, Tana Riffel, Beth Riffel, and Sam Oborny.
