Centre FFA members compete at Hillsboro

Centre FFA had a successful day Nov. 24 at the South Central District and Earl Wineinger Invitational Dairy Cattle Judging at Hillsboro.

The senior A-team finished second overall in the district and third in the invitational competition. Cole Svoboda finished second in district and third in invitational. Other members of the team were Tanner Brunner, Brian Burhoop, and Alex Hajek.

The freshman team finished sixth overall. Trevor Hageberg finished fifth in district and ninth in invitational, and Dani Spohn placed second in district and fourth in invitational. Other freshmen team members were Cassandra Dones, Kordell Harding, and Shane Methvin.

Dairy foods event

The South Central District Dairy Foods Career Development Event also was hosted Nov. 24 at Hillsboro.

During this activity, students tested their knowledge of dairy products by tasting milk for flavor and quality, indentifying cheeses, distinguishing natural and artificial diary products, and several other components of dairy production.

The senior A-team of Brian Burhoop, Cole Svoboda, Allison Shields, and Adam Matz placed third. Burhoop finished ninth individually.

The freshman team finished second in the greenhand division. Shane Methvin finished fourth and Cassandra Dones seventh individually. Other freshmen team members were Kordell Harding, Trevor Hageberg, and Dani Spohn.

Other Centre students who competed were Nathan Barney, Jared Diepenbrock, Alex Hajek, Josh Leach, Zach Antoszyk, Derek Calvert, Heath Hill, Seth Stroda, Tanner Brunner, Amanda Floyd, Ripley Howard, Casey Kristek, Nikki Potocnik, Katie Remy, Tori Marler, Ben Seeman, and Benjamin Wirtz.
