Centre FFA teams place in land judging

On Oct. 5, the Centre FFA chapter hosted and participated in the South Central District Land Judging Career Development Event in Hillsboro. The event consisted of judging six pits dug out from land provided by Cooperative Grain and Supply.

The Centre “A” team — Tom Oborny, Shane Methvin, Kinsley Shoup, and Jerami Slayden — placed fifth overall. Individual placements in the freshman division were Justin Bina, second, Jared Barney, fourth, and Dakota Stimpson, eighth.

Nursery/landscape CDE

Also on that day, several Centre FFA teams participated in a nursery/landscape contest. Teams were required to identify nursery and landscape plants and take a test on information presented.

The Centre A team — Bryanna Svoboda, Makenzie Deines, and Timothy Vinduska — placed fourth.

A freshman team of Brenna Shields, Dani Beck, and Kailyn Riffel placed second. Another freshman team of Shelby Makovec, Tia Jenkins, and Callie Riffel placed third.
