Centre finishes tourney

Centre’s boys have three wins on the year after victories last week over Rural Vista and Herington in a pre-season tournament.
Against Rural Vista, the boys led 19-11 after the first quarter and won, 69-50.
Luke Hudson led the team with 17 points, 19 rebounds, nine assists, and eight steals. Other leading scorers were Mikey Silhan, 16; Gentri Holub, 13; and Santiago Knepp, 9.
The Cougars struggled against a tall team Friday, falling behind early, 16-1, and eventually losing, 55-21, to Chase County.
Hudson scored 11 points, followed by Silhan, 5, Nick Krch, 4, and Tanner Stuchlik, 1.
On Saturday, Centre defeated winless Herington, 54-23. Hudson had 19 points, 7 steals, and 13 rebounds. Other scorers were Silhan, 13; Holub, 7; Quinten Bina, 5; Krch, 4; Kyle Peterson, 3; and Knepp, 3.
Hudson and Silhan were named to the all-tournament team.
Girls
Centre girls continue to search for a winning strategy.
They lost to Rural Vista, 48-28, and to Chase County, 48-27. Perhaps their best game was Saturday against Herington. They trailed by 10 points at halftime but came back in the last quarter to narrow the gap to 43-40.
Carly Deines and Olivia Carlson each scored 13 points. Other scorers were Alex Remmers, 6; and Jenaya Plett, Kaitlynn Bina, and Hailey Barton, 2 each.
Deines was named to the all-tournament team.
