Centre football defeats defending district champion

Centre High’s football team defeated the Bulldogs, 46-0, during an away game Friday at Waverly.
Waverly was the district champion last year.
“We were proud of the way our guys played,” said assistant coach Tim Vinduska. “Our seniors took leadership and led the team to a great win.”
Jensen Riffel had 13 carries for 102 yards, scored a touchdown, and had eight tackles.
Braxton Smith had 10 carries for 85 yards, scored three rushing touchdowns, and threw four completed passes for 71 yards, one pass resulting in a touchdown. He had three tackles.
Aiden Svoboda recovered a fumble and scored a touchdown.
Luke Hudson had three receptions for 65 yards and scored a touchdown. Dalton Stika made four tackles.
The Cougars now are 2-0 in district play. They will play Wakefield at 7 p.m. Friday in Centre’s homecoming game.
