Cacey Simons helped the Centre girls to a third-place finish April 22 at the Burrton track meet in Haven with a first-place finish in triple jump at 32 feet, 2 inches. She cleared the bar at 4 feet, 6 inches to finish second in high jump.
Cassidy Hill placed second in discus at 79 feet, 1 inch and javelin at 84-7.
Second-place finishers on the boys’ team included Nick Salamone in high jump at 5-10 and long jump at 18-4½ and Dakota Stimpson in 300 hurdles at 48.6 seconds and javelin at 128-3. The boys’ 4x100 relay team of Grant Srajer, Salamone, Stimpson, and Conner Montgomery finished second with a time of 49.0.

Council Grove
Judging by placements Thursday in the Council Grove track meet, Centre participants faced tough competition.
Cacey Simons was the highest placer with a second-place finish in triple jump. She jumped 32 feet, 5¼ inches.
The girls’ 4x100-meter relay team of Simons, Marie Miklus, Bryanna Svoboda, and Brenna Shields finished in fourth place.
The other competitors placed fifth or sixth.
