Centre girls get 2 easy victories

The Centre girls’ basketball team added two more victories last week. After defeating Wakefield on Friday, they had a record of 10-2.

Wakefield didn’t present much of a challenge. Centre quickly advanced to a 15-3 lead in the first quarter. Makenzie Deines, Amy Makovec, Cacey Simons, and Bryanna Svoboda all scored.

Shelby Makovec joined them in the second quarter as she, Svoboda, and Simons all made 3-pointers leading to a 26-5 halftime score.

Centre led 41-11 after three quarters and finished with a 47-13 victory.

Simons scored 15 points; Shelby Makovec, 11; Amy Makovec, 6; Svoboda, 7; Deines, 4; and Brenna Shields and Ally Basore, 2 each.

Flint Hills Christian

The girls defeated Flint Hills Christian, 58-8, Jan. 28 in Manhattan.

Flint Hills scored just two points in each of the four quarters, making for an easy victory.

Leading scorers were Simons, 14, and Svoboda, 12. Other scorers were Deines, 8; Amy Makovec and Callie Riffel, 6 each; Shelby Pankratz and Brenna Shields, 4 each; and Ally Basore and Cassidy Hill, 2 each.
