Centre girls place first at Marion track

Centre High School track star Theo Kassebaum earned three first-place finishes April 17 at the Marion High School track meet. They were in the 100-meter hurdles, 16.8 seconds: 300 hurdles, 54.2; and long jump, 15 feet, 3 inches.

Cacey Simons placed first in the 200 with a time of 30.4. She placed second in high jump.

Other second-place finishers included Shelby Makovec in the 400; Brenna Shields in the 100 and long jump; and the girls 4x100 relay (Simons, Ellie Miller, Kassebaum, and Shields).

On the boys’ team, Grant Srajer finished second in triple jump.

Council Grove

The Council Grove Invitational track meet Friday was a tough one for the CHS athletes. Theo Kassebaum had the only first-place finish, completing the 100 high hurdles in 16.6 seconds.

Cacey Simons had the only second-place finish, with a 4-8 in high jump.
