CENTRE: Golf team sends 2 players to state competition

The Centre High School golf team just missed going to the state tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The team finished fourth at the 1A regional meet Monday at Onaga.

Nevertheless, two players — Adam Matz and Tyler Klenda — finished in the top 20 and will be competing in the state tournament Monday at Emporia. CHS is hosting the meet.

The top three teams were Pleasanton, 321; Olpe, 331; and Linn, 343. Centre scored 371.

Matz finished in seventh place with a score of 82, and Klenda placed 12th with an 88. Other scorers were Trevor Hageberg, 22nd, 95; Dylan Svitak, 28th, 108; Kodey Johnson, 30th, 116; and Brian Burhoop, 31st, 117. There were 35 competitors.
