CENTRE: Lady Cougars split home matches

The Centre volleyball team split matches Oct. 5 at the final home triangular of the season.

The Lady Cougars defeated Elyria in two games, 25-17 and 25-21.

Tori Marler led scoring with 10 points and three aces, followed by Bryanna Svoboda with nine points and one ace.

Genesis Rudolph compiled a perfect setting record, completing 16-of-16 including five kills. Marler was 23-of-27 including nine kills.

Carrie Carlson was perfect at the net, completing three-of-three spike attempts. She also had one block. Other spikers were Allison Shields, 10-of-13 including five kills; Svoboda, 6-of-8 and four kills; Anna Weber, 6-of-7 and five kills; Cacey Simons, 5-of-6 and one kill; and Ellie Miller, 2-of-5 and one kill. Weber and Miller had two blocks each and Simons had one.

The junior varsity split two games with Elyria, winning the first game, 25-23, and losing the second, 22-24.

Scorers were Carlson 7, Amy Makovec 6, Brianna Alvarez 4, Beka Basore and Cassandra Dones 3 each, and Theo Kassebaum 1.

Peabody

Centre lost to Peabody in two games, 19-25 and 23-25. The team completed 41-of-43 serves.

Svoboda served for six points including two aces. Simons served for five, Amanda Floyd and Rudolph for three, and Shields for one.

Marler was a perfect 21-of-21 in setting. Rudolph was 14-of-17.

Weber, Miller, and Carlson completed all of their spike attempts. Shields had the most spikes completing 13-of-19, with eight kills and one block. Svoboda completed 9-of-11 and Simons 6-of-7 with three kills and one block.

The junior varsity defeated Peabody, 25-23 and 17-16. Leading scorers were Makovec 10 and Kassebaum 6.

The Lady Cougars played their final regular matches of the season Tuesday at White City. Centre will host the league tournament Saturday.
