At Hillsboro

It was extremely windy Friday at the James Thomas Invitational track meet at Hillsboro. According to CHS track coach Alan Stahlecker, the wind aided sprint times and horizontal jumps but hindered other events. The pole vault was canceled for safety reasons.

Twelve teams participated.

Kassebaum had an outstanding meet. She registered her best high hurdles time of 16.03 and a long jump of 15-10.25 for two second-place finishes. She finished fourth in the 300 low hurdles at 52.97.

Cacey Simons also had a second-place finish with a 5-foot leap in high jump. She was tied for first place but lost in the jump-off to an athlete from Hesston.

Svoboda placed fourth in long jump at 19-6 and third in javelin at 134-7.

Kristek finished fifth in high hurdles at 17.29.
