The Lady Cougars added two sorely-needed wins Sept. 16 by defeating Elyria and St. Xavier in a home triangular.
They defeated Elyria in two games with identical scores of 25-20.
The girls combined for 27 spikes and 46 of 48 serves.
Allison Shields served for eight points and Bridgette Burns completed 10 of 12 spike attempts.
They defeated St. Xavier in two games, 25-21 and 25-18. They were strong at the net, completing 20 of 25 spike attempts.
Shields served for seven points including two aces, and Leann Pankratz completed 10 of 12 spike attempts.
Marion Invitational
The team didn’t do so well Saturday at the Marion Invitational. Playing against teams from higher conferences, they were defeated in two games in all three matches in pool play.
Against 4A DeSoto in the first match, they were defeated handily 11-25 and 10-25.
They did a little better in the second match but were overwhelmed by 3A Wichita Collegiate, 13-25 and 15-25.
After a 14-25 loss in the first game against 2A Canton-Galva, the Lady Cougars picked up their play and had their best game of the day.
They came within two points of winning, losing 23-25.
Their record now stands at 4-9.
