Chingawassa Days turnout pleases organizer

Between 1,500 to 1,600 attended this year’s Chingawassa Days, pleasing organizer Adam Heerey.

“We’re glad everyone enjoyed the show,” he said. “There were chairs clear back by the river. It wasn’t condensed but full.”

Heerey pointed to a new event, the ColorRun 5k as a particular success.

“The color run went really well,” he said. “We had around 170 to 200 participants.”

Weather cooperated, for the most part.

“Especially Friday, being pretty warm, we were all sweating,” he said. “There’s a lot of hard work that goes into it. I try my best to make it around to every event.”

This year’s musicians most impressed Heerey.

“For me, personally, I liked the involvement from all the musicians around the community,” he said. “Some went around town taking photos, shooting video, and introducing themselves, meeting everybody. Some even took their families swimming here in town, and I thought that was great.”

Heerey said organizers owe the success of Chingawassa to the community.

“We’re just so thankful for the hard work that goes into it, from community members and sponsors, for making that happen,” he said. “We couldn’t do it without their involvement. It’s pretty incredible to combine all that with the musicians and artists enjoying the community, too. That’s what it’s really all about.”
