CHS greenhands place in top 10

Thirteen greenhands — first-year FFA members — from Centre High School attended a South-Central District greenhand and information conference Sept. 23 at Buhler High School. They were among 580 students in attendance.

James Spohn placed fourth and Greg Oborny placed eighth in the FFA information test.

Others who participated were Daniel Rudolph, Brendon Bina, Dylan Deines, Cole Methvin, Katie Marler, Hannah Peterson, Raeanne Bryant, Rebecca Reneau, Valerie Craney, Karoline Chizek, and Abby August.

National FFA Secretary Kalie Hall gave an address, after which members participated in workshops ranging from ag advocacy to growth and goals, career development event opportunities, and leadership.

The South-Central District officers including Centre’s Kevin Lewis, district treasurer, and Karl Riffel, district sentinel, helped to organize the event.
