Former Tampa resident Nicholas Kleiber was awarded the Ad Altare Dei religious emblem Aug. 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina. The Rev. Kerry Ninemire made the presentation.
Lynn and Peggy Kleiber of Salina are his parents. Grandparents are Leona Kleiber of Tampa and the late John Kleiber and the late Otis and Pauline Havice.
Nicholas began Boy Scouts with Pack 106, which was sponsored by Tampa Lions Club. He transferred to Troop 102, sponsored by Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion. He joined Troop 214 in 2006, sponsored by Trinity Methodist Church in Salina.
He was awarded Eagle Scout and received his court of honor April 18. His eagle project was planning, organizing, and supervising renovations of an apartment at Ashby House in Salina, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. He and other volunteers cleaned, prepared, painted, and installed window blinds in the apartment.
He is a senior at Centre High School. After graduation, he plans to join the military.
