City workers to get dental

Marion City Council will offer Blue Cross Blue Shield dental insurance to all city employees at 20 percent of its cost.

Although total cost to the city was not discussed during Tuesday’s meeting, it will be partially offset by a three percent decrease in the city’s insurance cost.

Dental insurance will cost employees $6.32 per month for single coverage, $13.94 for employee and child, $14.79 for employee and spouse, and $21.85 for family coverage.

Mayor Todd Heitschmidt also discussed a “neighboring initiative” he’d like the city and civic, educational, and community organizations to pursue.
