Michael Bass and Angela Dilks filed suit Aug. 26 against the City of Burns and Mayor Mike Hammann. Bass and Dilks claim Hammann, city employees, city council members, and the Burns police department, accompanied by H6 Excavation Co. and Heartland Towing, cleared their property in July, 2023.

When the couple protested, police detained Dilks, who was treated in an El Dorado hospital for injuries. Hammann, city employees, city council members, and Burns Police, accompanied by H6 Excavation Co., returned Sept. 1, 2023, to clear more property. The couple told them they were trespassing, and the group left.

Bass and Dilks seek an order decreeing that the plaintiffs are entitled to possession of vehicles that were removed, the values of the vehicles, and payment for damage and personal items taken from them.
