Club observes 4-H Sunday

Club observed National 4-H Sunday this past Sunday by attending the Burdick United Methodist Church. In the service the 4-Hers were recognized with previous members. The 4-H Pledge was recited.

Families brought dinner and ate at the church. Parents conducted the meeting. Karen Carlson called the meeting to order at 1:15 p.m. Roll call was answered by four members who told what projects they planned to enroll. To reinforce the pledge, a balloon game was played that was planned by Karen and Carrie. Balloons were handed out to all people and were played with until someone broke theirs. Then all balloons were broke and in the balloons were the words of the pledge and each 4-H had to complete the pledge. The puzzle was to reinforce the 4-H pledge for the younger 4-Hers.

Janet Matz read the minutes. Larry Casey read the report of the BALE project from the Marion Co. Fair. We received both a report of the decorations and float in the parade.

Council members Carrie Carlson, Janet Matz, and Ruth Ann Carlson were at the County Council meeting Sept. 29, and Carrie was the only president in attendance. She led the president, vice president, and parliamentarian workshop. Carrie was elected as County 4-H treasurer.

We signed cards for sponsors of the 4-H t-shirts. Ten dollars were given to each member to buy groceries for the food bank and products will be brought to the next meeting.

The next meeting will be at Carrie Carlson’s after school Nov. 10.

Health participation cards and enrollment cards were distibuted.

We will invite senior citizens of Burdick and Lincolnville at noon Dec. 29 at Lincolnville Methodist Church.

An update of officers in 2007 and 2008 are Carrie Carlson, president; Nathaniel Engler, secretary; Adam Matz, treasurer; and Rebecca Casey, recreation leader.

For a surprise, Janet Matz changed her appearance and came in as an announcer and Norman Engler came as a photographer. They interviewed some members and parents of 4-Hers and told of their involvement. There were 15 who participated. Adjourned at 2:15 p.m.
