Friday night I watched the Critics Choice Awards on TV. I didn’t know the stars or movies of today, but it was fun to watch it anyway. Meryl Streep won top actress along with Sandra Bullock. I was interested in Meryl because she had starred in “Julie and Julia,” I have the tape. She portrayed Julia Childs, a famous chef. What a great job. The story is fun too. I have been a fan of Julia since she had a show on TV. Meryl did a perfect copy of her.
I have been a fan of movies ever since I was a teenager. My worst lie was when I told my dad I was going to play tennis, but instead met a boyfriend and we went to a matinee. Of course, my dad figured that out and he didn’t like it. Now I watch some of the old movies on TV so I can watch them whenever I want to.
The earthquake in Haiti is terrible. Why do those kinds of things happen in the poorest countries, where the people are so helpless? I saw Mount Vesuvius and it was still smoking. What happened a long time ago is supposed to happen in California sometime. I was there one time when they had a quake. Books and things fell off shelves. Pretty scary. I think floods or cyclones would be easier to handle.
