Economic development corporation to hold stakeholder meeting

Staff writer

In an effort to draw the county and its towns together, Marion County Community Economic Development Corporation will hold a public stakeholder meeting.

The date for the meeting has not been set, board member Tammy Ensey said.

“What we’re hoping to do with a stakeholders meeting is to bring everyone together so we can reach consensus on how we go about growing this county through the economic development corporation we set up,” Ensey said.

County appointee David Mueller and Peabody appointee Hannah Bourbon officially joined the board Tuesday.

Two other county appointees, Chase Gann and Chris Hernandez, have not joined. Hernandez has not said whether he’ll serve on the board and Gann has declined, Ensey said.

“Chase Gann is very supportive and has offered his time,” Ensey said. “He’s volunteered to help any way he can, he just can’t commit to the time required of a board member.”

Ensey said the board will reach out to Peabody and the county to appoint additional board members.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the board held an executive session to discuss candidates for executive director. Two were interviewed by the interim board, but a decision won’t be made until a permanent board is seated, she said.
