The Burdick Senior Citizens met Sept. 23 at the Legion Hall with 10 members present. Jennifer Kassebaum presented information on the Yellow Dot Program. Members voted by ballot for the Senior Citizens to continue for 2010. An election of officers will be held later in the year. The next meeting will be at noon Oct. 16 at the Legion Hall. Members are asked to bring a side dish.
Rachel Nelson of Lawrence was a Sept. 14 visitor of her grandmother, Naomi Nelson. As a part of a class she is taking, she conducted some interviews. Those interviewed were Hallie Novak, Evelyn Forsberg, Leona Anderson, and Nelson. Tom Nelson joined them for lunch in Lost Springs. Later they had a short visit with Mary Deane Peterson in Burdick.
The Burdick Corlberg-Smith #147 American Legion and Auxiliary had their annual coffee tour Sept. 23 at the Burdick Legion Hall. Two members of the State Legion were there to answer questions and help with local problems. Legion members attending were Larry Hempleman, Roger Peterson, and Rolland Peterson. Auxiliary members present were Nancy Hanson, Darlene Gutsch, and Rosemary Hempleman of Burdick; and Dollye Novak and Evelyn Strecker of Lost Springs. The next auxiliary meeting will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion Hall. The Legion will meet at 7:30 p.m.
Marvin Peterson of Lincolnville and Mary Deane Peterson were morning visitors of Evelyn Forsberg. Afternoon visitors were Linnea Barlow, Dean Forsberg, and Joe Forsberg. Joe is home on leave from the Marines.
Lois Peterson left Monday for a 10 day visit with Keith and Dianne Miller and other relatives in Grand Junction, Colo.
Harry Schump of Herington and Joe Forsberg were dinner guests Sept. 23 of Evelyn Forsberg. Harry hosted supper in Lost Springs for Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Joe Forsberg, and Evelyn Forsberg.
Darlene Gutsch attended the 56th annual Bredemeier Reunion Sunday at the Marion City Building.
Dean Forsberg and Harry Schump were dinner guests Thursday of Evelyn Forsberg.
Dinner guests of Joyce and Ruth Ann Carlson Sept. 22 were Guy and Leola Wilkerson of Bentonville, Ark.; Dan Peterson and Kelsey Harding of Burdick; and Marcus Carlson and Brent, Ronnie Carlson, and Duane and Karen Carlson of Lincolnville.
Evelyn Forsberg was an afternoon visitor Friday of Jane Rickenbrode in Council Grove. Dean and Joe Forsberg were evening visitors of Evelyn.
Perry Gutsch and Anthony of Herington were afternoon visitors Sunday of Darlene Gutsch. They mowed for her and did some errands.
There was a joint service Sunday at Hebron Lutheran Church with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Herington. Bill Peterson is the pastor of both churches. A potluck dinner was held in the fellowship hall following the service.
Marilyn Hageberg had surgery Sept. 21 in Topeka and came home on Sept. 22. Visitors last week were Lee Shade, Shirley Miller, Diana Jost, and Nancy Tatman.
Charles and Arlene Carlson took Dan and Linda Peterson out for dinner and shopping Sunday in Junction City. Afternoon guests were Jean Brunner and Mike and Linda Carlson.
Harry Schump was a dinner guest Sunday of Evelyn Forsberg. Later, they went to the home of Dean and Nanette Forsberg for Dean’s birthday. Other guests were Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin, Logan, Konnor, and Garrett of Rose Hill; Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan, and Ethan Forsberg of Jewell; Savannah Forsberg and Willie Hicks.
Mary Deane Peterson, Josie Peterson, and Quentin Wacker attended a fish fry Sunday at the Marion County Reservoir. The event honored disabled deer hunters.
Ruth Riggin had an accident Friday at her home. Her daughter, Julie Sader, came to Herington. Ruth stayed with Julie and her husband Lyal through Sunday in Salina and is now recovering at home.

Burdick United Methodist Women met Sept. 16 at the church fellowship hall with 11 members present. Susan Carlson presided and gave devotions. Karen Carlson gave a lesson on Native Americans. Plans for the Sept. 30 turkey super were finalized. Refreshments were served by Linda Basore. The next meeting will be Oct. 21.
Dinner guests Sept. 15 of Evelyn Forsberg were Elmer Schump of Woodinville, Wash.; Harry Schump of Herington; and Dean Forsberg.
Diane Ecklund, Dorothy Broce, and Jane Clemmer took Mary Deane Peterson for a birthday celebration lunch Thursday. Evelyn Forsberg was an evening visitor of Mary Deane.
Charles and Arlene Carlson accompanied Gary and Joan Werneke of Georgia to a Laudemann family reunion Saturday at the home of Russell and Lily Hurd in Mulvane.
