The first practice for the Labor Day Choir will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at Hebron Lutheran Church.

The administrative council met Aug. 4 at Burdick United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Those attending were the Rev. Jay Beck, Ronnie Carlson, Darlene Gutsch, Diana Jost, Gary Hageberg, Dan Peterson, Joyce and Ruth Ann Carlson, Karen Biehler, Gene and Jean Ecklund, Janet Matz, Susan Carlson, and Carla Engler. The financial report and minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed. New business included changing worship time, a new roof, a pre-school, and a newsletter.

Clean, plastic gallon jugs are needed to make ice for ice cream for the annual Labor Day celebration sponsored by the Methodist church. The jugs may be left at Burdick Meat Market.

Dean Forsberg visited Evelyn Forsberg on Aug. 2 and Thursday.

Gayla Deines took Darlene Gutsch to Salina on Aug. 4 to see a cardiologist. After the appointment, they ate lunch and shopped.

Elinor, Lynley, and Katie Remy stayed Aug. 4 through Friday with Chuck and Jan Kreuger and family at Ridgedale, Mo. While there, they saw the production of “Peter Pan” Thursday afternoon. Chuck Kreuger took them on a boat ride Aug. 4 on Table Rock Lake.

Gary and Marilyn Hageberg were in Topeka Thursday afternoon for an appointment. Later they had supper out with Kenny and Teresa Roberts.

Evelyn Forsberg visited Jane, Wade, and Morgan Rickenbrode Friday morning at Council Grove.

Burdick United Methodist Women will meet at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at the church fellowship hall. Linda Basore will give devotions. The Sheperds will present the lesson. Kiki Krause will be host.

Roger, Rolland, and Lois Peterson visited Ruth Riggin Friday at Salina.

Evelyn Forsberg was a visitor Saturday afternoon of Harry Schump at Herington.

A new group, “Basement Stitchers,” met Saturday afternoon at the church to work on sewing projects. Those attending were Lee Shade, Karen and Carrie Carlson, Jean Ecklund, Karen Biehler, Shirley Miller, and Angela, Beka, and Kate Basore. The next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at the church. All are welcome to bring sewing projects.

There will not be a senior citizen meeting Aug. 20.

Dan and Linda Peterson went to Eudora on Aug. 2 to watch Daniel Peterson play blast ball. After the game, they joined Jeff, Jaime, and Daniel Peterson for ice cream treats.

Harry Schump was a dinner guest Sunday of Evelyn Forsberg. Afternoon visitors were Jane, Wade, and Morgan Rickenbrode of Council Grove.

John, Adrianne, and Judah Richard of Lawrence were weekend guests of Phil and Jamie Peterson.

Perry Gutsch of Herington visited Darlene Gutsch after work Thursday.
