Lois Peterson was an afternoon visitor Sunday of Linnea Barlow. Marvin Barlow was also a visitor.

The annual dinner and valentine auction is Feb. 14 at the Burdick United Methodist Church. This is a benefit with proceeds going to the church’s Benevolent Fund. Dinner will be at 12:30 p.m. with the auction following. Payment for the soup dinner will be by donation. The auction following will feature many valentine gifts of candy, flowers, food, and many other interesting items to bid on. Everyone is welcome.

Gene Ecklund came home Saturday from Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. Visitors over the weekend were Ed and Pam Spriggs, Nick, Jennifer, and Sarah of Broken Arrow, Okla.; Debbie Kresky, Courtney, and Ryan of McPherson; and Tim and Karen Biehler of Herington.

Mary Deane Peterson and Dean Forsberg were afternoon guests of Jan. 25 of Evelyn Forsberg.

Jim and Marilyn Peterson, Lois Peterson, and Forrest and Marie Anderson attended the visitation for Raymond Jensen Thursday at Penwell-Gable Funeral Home in Council Grove.

Adrianne Richard and Judah of Lawrence were houseguests of Jamie and Phil Peterson. They all attended Jensen’s funeral Friday at the Wilsey Christian Church.

Glen Carlson and Dean Forsberg were afternoon visitors Jan. 26 of Evelyn Forsberg.

Perry Gutsch of Herington was an after work visitor Jan. 27 of Darlene Gutsch.

Lois Peterson, Roger Peterson, and Rolland Peterson accompanied Forrest and Marie Anderson to the Morris County Soil Conservation dinner and meeting Saturday at Council Grove.

Harry Schump of Herington was a guest to celebrate his birthday Thursday of Evelyn Forsberg. Evening visitors were Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Savannah Forsberg, and Willie Hicks. Jean Brunner picked up Charles and Arlene Carlson from church Sunday and took them to her home for dinner. Other guests were Nolan and Melissa Brunner, Leah, and Noah of Herington and Jill Brunner and Tucker of Emporia.

Pat and Galen Schneider were dinner guests Sunday of Clint and Diana Jost.

Harry Schump of Herington hosted dinner Sunday for Jane Rickenbrode and Morgan and Evelyn Forsberg. They spent the afternoon visiting.

Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Herington, attended a project meeting Jan. 27 in Lincolnville. Marlyn and Dale Diepenbrock, Eunice Hager, Joan Kropp, Aleta Koepke, Ramona Salonka, Marie Anderson, and Bill and Judy Peterson had lunch out together.

Judah Richard spent the weekend with Phil and Jamie Peterson. Sunday they took him back to Lawrence.

Gene and Marie Thorton of Abilene brought dinner Jan. 25 to Roger and Rolland Peterson. Other guests were Mary Deane and Lois Peterson.

Gary and Marilyn Hageberg were visitors Sunday of Kenny and Teresa Roberts of Topeka. They had supper out.

Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America met Jan. 20 at the home of Jewell Swinney. Carol Riffel was the lesson leader. Attending were Dollye Novak, Hallie Novak, Nancy Hanson, Gloria Martin, Lois Peterson, Carol Riffel, and Jewell Swinney.

Phil and Jamie Peterson, Lois Peterson, and Joyce Roever were afternoon and evening guests Jan. 23 of John and Adianne Richard and Judah at their home in Lawrence.

Chuck and Jan Creger, Jacob and Caleb, of Ridgedale, Mo., were Thursday through Friday noon guests of Elinor Remy. The Cregers attended a funeral in Colorado and returned to Remy’s house Jan. 23. They provided special music at the Burdick Hebron Lutheran Church services Jan. 24.

Harry Schump hosted supper Jan. 23 in Lost Springs for Evelyn Forsberg and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan, of Council Grove. The Rickenbrodes were after supper visitors of Forsberg.

Mary Deane Peterson, Burdette and Maureen Peterson, and Bret and Lisa Beye of Herington celebrated Lisa’s birthday Jan. 22 in Lost Springs.

Ruth Riggin and Lois Peterson were visitors Jan. 25 of Gary Zinn in Wamego. A friend of Gary’s, Ben Workman, of Topeka joined them for lunch.

A large crowd attended the Hebron Lutheran Church’s annual meeting Jan. 24 followed by a soup, salad, and dessert dinner.

Kenny and Teresa Roberts of Topeka were afternoon visitors Jan. 24 of Gary and Marilyn Hageberg. The Robertses brought pizza with them for supper.

Ken and Alice Peterson of Herington were afternoon visitors Jan. 24 of Charles and Arlene Carlson.

Burdick United Methodist Women met Jan. 20 at the Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Susan Carlson gave devotions and Lee Shade was the host. After the meeting and refreshments, time was spent working on baby beds that are going to Mexico. Attendees included Susan Carlson, Janet Matz, Jean Ecklund, Darlene Gutsch, Linda Basore, and Lee Shade. The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17.

The Rev. Lester Larson of Seguin, Texas, a former minister at the Hebron Lutheran Church in the late 1950s, died Jan. 18.

Larry Peterson of Granby, Colo., and Terry Little of Colorado brought Neva Peterson to her home Jan. 22 and remained until Jan. 25.

Ruth Riggin was a supper guest Jan. 24 of Neva Peterson and her houseguests.

Evelyn Forsberg was a dinner guest Jan. 24 of Harry Schump in Herington and stayed the afternoon.

The David Nelson family of Kansas City were Jan. 17 guests of Naomi and Tom Nelson. They celebrated Tom’s birthday.

Clint and Diana Jost were supper guests Jan. 22 of Steve and Annelle Jost in Hillsboro. They also visited Clint’s mother, Lorene Jost.

Mike and Linda Carlson and Preslee Karst of Wichita brought supper Jan. 23 to Charles and Arlene Carlson. Preslee is the Carlson’s great-great-granddaughter.
