The Burdick Relay for Life team is sponsoring a hamburger fry starting at noon on July 26 at the Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds go to American Cancer Society.
Some of the events at this year’s session of Vacation Bible School, held July 14 through 17, at the Burdick United Methodist Church, included inspirational lessons, music, crafts, food, fun, and fellowship. Some special events were a moonwalk and water balloons.
Judy Peterson of Herington took Mary Deane Peterson to Junction City July 6 for a doctor’s appointment.
Janine Hageberg and Nicole of Blackwell, Okla., were guests of her grandparents, Gary and Marilyn Hageberg, from July 6 through 8.
Harry Schump of Herington and Harold and Deborah Schump of Arlington, Texas, shared lunch with Evelyn Forsberg July 9. Savannah Forsberg was an afternoon visitor and Nanette Forsberg was an evening visitor.
Tom and Naomi Nelson were visitors July 7 of Mary Deane Peterson.
Burdick Council of Clubs met July 7 at the Legion shelter house. Eight members were present and discussed the annual Labor Day celebration. The theme for this year is “Back to the Fifties.” Some entertainment being planned is an Elvis impersonator, rock and roll dance contest, bluegrass and polka music, a church service, parade, and homemade ice-cream.
Burdette Peterson visited Mary Deane Peterson July 8. Arlene Kleinschmidt and her mother were evening guests with Mary Deane and Josie Peterson.
Charles and Arlene Carlson were guests of Kent and Jean Brunner July 12. Other guests were Jill Brunner and Tucker of Emporia.
Evelyn Forsberg accompanied Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan, of Council Grove, to Salina July 12 to attend a first birthday for her great-granddaughter, McKenna Fogo. Many other friends and relatives attended.

Anthony Gutsch of Herington was a visitor July 7 of his grandmother, Darlene Gutsch.
Alison Burns-Trimble and Will Burns of Arlington, Va., were weekend guests of the Burdette Petersons. Other guests on July 11 included Floyd and Jane Barnes and Walter of Tulsa, Okla., and Mary Deane Peterson.
Forrest and Marie Anderson were Fourth of July weekend guests of Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia. Other guests included Erin Korte and Jayson Hauser of Manhattan, Iam Korte of Lawrence, and Aubrey Rite of Emporia.
Sixty-five to 70 people gathered July 10 at Burdick United Methodist Church for a program given by Nellie Kassebaum and her father, Bill, on their trip to Peru. They shared pictures and had souvenirs they purchased on display. Burdick Senior Citzens sponsored the meeting.
Mary Deane Peterson hosted a luncheon July 12 at Herington for Alison Burns-Trimble and her son Will Burns. Others attending were Marvin Peterson of Lincolville, Carla Chase of Emporia, Bill and Judy Peterson, Bret and Lisa Beye, Samantha Beye and Chelsea Cowart of Herington, and Burdette and Maureen Peterson.
Forrest and Marie Anderson visited Maurine Johnson July 8 in Lindsborg.
Roger and Rolland Peterson visited Isla Rose Nelson July 11 at Salina Regional Health Center after her back surgery.
