Charles and Arlene Carlson attended church services Sunday morning at Trinity Lutheran Church at Ramona with Kent and Jean Brunner. They were dinner guests of the Brunner’s at their home. Other guests were Lauren Brunner, Jill Brunner and Tucker of Emporia, and Nolan Brunner of Herington.
Burdick UMW met Wednesday evening at BUMC Fellowship Hall. Ten members attended. Darlene Gutsch gave devotions centered on spring and gardening. The lesson was “Lent: This is the Fast I Choose,” which was given by Linda Peterson. Susan Carlson served refreshments. Plans were made for the annual Spring Tea, April 15. Marva Morrison of Wichita will present a program, “Needlework News.” Ten to 12 people helped move pews and other items back into the church after new carpet was installed.
Tri-County Telephone Association held its 48th annual meeting Tuesday evening at Centre High School with a supper, meeting, entertainment, and prizes. Some of those in attendance were Elinor Remy, Leona Anderson, Lois Peterson, Darlene Gutsch, Marilyn Hageberg, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Forrest and Marie Anderson, and Linda Peterson, chairman of the nominating committee.

Burdick Relay for Life is collecting aluminum cans with proceeds benefiting American Cancer Society. Cans may be placed in a container behind Burdick United Methodist Church.
Burdick Council of Clubs will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Legion Hall.
Lois Peterson attended a dinner noon Saturday at the home of Jim and Marilyn Peterson honoring Kasey Peterson’s 11th birthday. Others attending were Mike Peterson and Lyndon, and Matt and Jamey Dalke, Reagan and Tyler of Lindsborg.
Savannah Forsberg was a Wednesday morning visitor of Evelyn Forsberg. Harry Schump of Herington also visited and brought dinner for Evelyn and Savannah.
My sister, Dorothy Rindt of Wichita, is doing well with rehabilitation. She has a new address, Family Health and Rehabilitation Center, Esther House, Room 206, 639 S. Maize Court, Wichita 67209.
WELCA met Wednesday evening after Lenten services at Hebron Lutheran Church. Gloria Martin was lesson leader. Attending were Marilyn Peterson, Lois Peterson, Carol Riffel, Jewell Swinney, Nancy Hanson, and Hallie Novak.
Wade Rickenbrode was a Thursday afternoon visitor of Evelyn Forsberg. Jane Rickenbrode and Morgan of Council Grove were Thursday evening visitors and Wade returned home with them.
Jenny Schrader, Shea and Hunter of Wichita arrived Tuesday to spend a few days visiting Burdette and Maureen Peterson. While she was there, she spent two days painting for Mary Deane Peterson at her home. Lisa Beye also helped.
Rylee and Preslee Karst of Wichita were guests Friday through Sunday of their grandparents, Mike and Linda Carlson. During the time they were there, they spent time visiting their great-grandparents, Charles and Arlene Carlson, at their home.
Evelyn Forsberg visited Earl and Ruth Schump Friday afternoon at Herington. Evelyn was one of 17 family members who celebrated the birthdays of Konnor Dunkin of Rose Hill and Willy Hicks Friday evening at a Council Grove restaurant.
Rigo and Mario Salazar of Derby came Thursday and spent some time with the Brett Beyes’ at Herington. They also spent the weekend with Burdette and Maureen Peterson.
Dan and Linda Peterson attended the annual Master Farmer/Master Farm Homemaker Banquet Friday at Junction City.

Ruth Riggin was an overnight guest Tuesday of Lyal and Julie Sader at Salina. From Salina, she went to Wamego Wednesday morning to visit Gary Zinn. She returned later in the day to her home at Burdick.
Keep in your thoughts and prayers this week Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ecklund, Jean’s sister, Marie Stewart of Louisiana who died last week; Shirley Miller who is having major surgery; Linda Basore who is recuperating at home after a stay in Morris County Hospital in Council Grove; and Francis George whose health is much improved this week.

Forrest and Marie Anderson and Gary and Karen Korte attended a 60th anniversary open house honoring Wayne and Helen Payton at Masonic Temple at Emporia. Gary and Marilyn Hageberg also attended. The Paytons are former residents of Burdick. Wayne was a depot agent at Burdick. Their children, Dewayne, Marsha, and Marla, and their families hosted it.
