A supper was held Oct. 18 for Joyce Carlson’s 85th birthday and hosted by Duane and Karen Carlson and Carrie at their home in Lincolnville. Guests at the celebration were Joyce’s wife, Ruth Ann Carlson, Marcus and Sue Carlson, and Dennis and Kiki Krause of Lincolnville; Dean and Judy Ingalsbee, Deanna, Jasmine, and Desiree of Furley; Mr. and Mrs. Lucas Carlson and Maria, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Carlson and Olivia of Marion; and Brent Carlson of Manhattan.

One of our former ministers, Pastor Marilyn Cox and her husband, Jim, attended Sunday services at Burdick United Methodist Church. Marilyn is retired from the ministry and she and Jim live at Peabody. Pastor Jay L. Beck and his family were members of her congregation at Woodbine-Lyona.

Keith and Dianne Miller of Grand Junction, Colo., and Lois Peterson were Monday afternoon visitors of Mary Deane Peterson.

Jim and Marlene Gutsch of Emporia were late Tuesday morning visitors of Darlene Gutsch. They were going to visit Marlene’s father, Edmund Steiner at Pilsen later in the afternoon. Jim Gutsch visited for a short time Saturday afternoon with Darlene.

Kirsten Johnson’s 18th birthday was celebrated Thursday night with a supper hosted by Pam Ackley at her home. Guests were Connie Johnson and Kodey, Wayne and Nancy Hanson, Allen Hanson, Lindy Roberts, and Kannady Roberts of Council Grove.

Forrest Anderson visited Francis George Wednesday at the Basore home.

Airman 1st Class Phillip Hageberg, grandson of Gary and Marilyn Hageberg, completed his second training session at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, and graduated with high honors. He will be stationed at Guam for the next two years. He will spend a nine-day leave with his mother, Teresa Hageberg of Topeka and other relatives.

Darlene Gutsch took a birthday cake to Marilyn Hageberg Sunday evening. She visited her on her birthday Monday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon to take her some information from the church finance meeting.

Maureen Peterson was a Tuesday afternoon visitor of Mary Deane Peterson.

Burdick Senior Citizens will meet Nov. 14 at the Legion Hall. A Thanksgiving meal will be catered at noon.

Perry Gutsch of Herington was a Thursday afterwork visitor of Darlene Gutsch.

Dean Forsberg, Logan and Konnor Dunkin of Rose Hill were Tuesday visitors of Evelyn Forsberg. Linnea Barlow was a Tuesday afternoon visitor.

Josie Peterson of Lincolnville was a guest of Mary Deane Peterson from Saturday evening through Sunday night.

Dean Forsberg was a Thursday morning and Saturday afternoon visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.

Ruth Riggin and Lois Peterson went to Wamego Friday to visit Gary Zinn. They ate lunch together.

Forrest and Marie Anderson were guests overnight Friday and Saturday of Gary and Karen Korte at their home in Emporia.

Ruth Riggin accompanied Bob and Marena Riggin of Abilene to Hutchinson Sunday to visit relatives. Those they visited were Ray and Beck Riggin and their four children.

Darlene Gutsch went to Marion Sunday morning and accompanied Gene and Doris Winkler to a birthday dinner for Bruce Winkler, whose birthday was Oct. 25, and the 11th birthday of Eric Hess, Oct. 26. The event was hosted by Dorothy Rindt at her home in Wichita. Others attending were Sherri Hess, Kelli and Jake of Marion, and Debbi Kreutzman and Lisa Anderson of Wichita. After the honored guests opened gifts, birthday cake and ice cream were served.

Keith and Dianne Miller of Grand Junction, Colo., Lois Peterson, and Ruth Riggin went to Wichita Tuesday to visit Dennis Schroer at a rehabilitation center.

Forrest and Marie Anderson visited Verlon Middleton and wife, Waneda, Sunday afternoon at Herington Municipal Hospital. The Middleton’s daughter, Eleanor Browning of Emporia, also was there.

Francis George came home from the hospital Monday afternoon and is doing well. Remember him with prayers, cards, and letters.
