Linda Peterson and Warren and Paula Fike of Ramona, went to the play, “Is He Dead?” Saturday evening at Rock Creek High School at Westmoreland. Nolan Fike was a member of the cast.
Burdick United Methodist Church had the “hanging of the greens” Sunday evening. A Christmas movie also was shown.
Dean Forsberg was a Tuesday and Thursday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg. He also visited Friday afternoon.
Members of Hebron Lutheran Church decorated the church for the Christmas season after services Sunday and enjoyed a soup dinner at noon.
Marc Baker and his son, Riggin, of Lawrence, visited Ruth Riggin Saturday morning.
Shirley Gawith of Salina hosted a luncheon noon Friday at her home to celebrate Goldie Steeley’s 93rd birthday. Guests attending were Janet Johnson of Enterprise; Shirley Miller of Herington; Marilyn Hageberg of Burdick; and Goldie’s sister-in-law, Carol, of McPherson. The birthday cake was a delicious carrot cake.
Burdick United Methodist Women met Nov. 19 at the church fellowship hall. Thirteen members were present. The program consisted of devotions by Diana Jost, a lesson by Linda Peterson, first part Thanksgiving thank you’s, second part Bible verses were read by members referring to thanks. Refreshments were served by Janet Matz. A business meeting followed the lesson. The UMW Christmas party will be Sunday with a potluck dinner following church services. Prayer Pal gifts will be exchanged at that time.
Rigo and Mario Salazar of Derby were houseguests of Burdette and Maureen Peterson Monday through Sunday last week. Rigo recently had his tonsils removed.
Evelyn Forsberg was a Sunday dinner guest of Jane Rickenbrode and Morgan at Council Grove.
Clint and Diana Jost were Friday supper guests of Steve and Annalee Jost at Hillsboro. After supper, they attended the musical, “Annie Get Your Gun,” performed by Hillsboro High School.
Kenneth and Alice Peterson of Herington, their daughter, Linda Huntington of Virginia, and Mike and Lindan were Tuesday afternoon guests of Charles and Arlene Carlson. Arlene served refreshments.
Perry Gutsch and Whitney of Herington were Sunday morning visitors of Darlene Gutsch. Perry helped her with a computer problem and Perry and Whitney went to church with Darlene.
Nick and Beth Weibert and Kaylee of Abilene and James Jost were Saturday noon dinner guests of Clint and Diana Jost.
Jake Tindle of Hutchinson was a Sunday morning visitor of Ruth Riggin.
Savannah Forsberg of Emporia and Willy Hicks of Delavan were Sunday afternoon visitors of Evelyn Forsberg.
Cesar and Kelly Salazar, Rigo and Mario, all of Derby and Burdette and Maureen Peterson were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mary Deane Peterson. They helped her with outdoor Christmas lights.
It is a joy to report Burdick United Methodist Church prepared 201 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and was a receiving station for other boxes. A total of 428 boxes were taken Sunday afternoon to Salina by Gene and Jean Ecklund and Tim and Karen Biehler. Appreciation goes to them for their help in completing this worthwhile project and to all who helped provide gifts and labor to pack them.
Charles and Arlene Carlson were Sunday dinner guests of Kent and Jean Brunner of Ramona. Lauren Brunner also was a dinner guest.
The Women of ELCA met Nov. 19 at the home of Marilyn Peterson with seven members present. The lesson leader was Hallie Novak. Those in attendance were Nancy Hanson, Gloria Martin, Carol Riffel, Lois Peterson, Jewell Swinney, and Marilyn Peterson.
Josie Peterson of Lincolnville spent Friday night and Saturday with Mary Deane Peterson.
December dates to remember are Sunday, UMC Christmas party-BUMC fellowship hall, potluck lunch Sunday. A program by the minister will follow in the sanctuary. A Prayer Pals gift exchange will be held.
On Dec. 19, there will be a senior citizens dinner at the legion hall. The program will be a foreign exchange student of Phil and Jamie Peterson at 1 p.m.
