CORRESPONDENTS: Living Center

St. Luke Living Center correspondent

Centre teacher Lynley Remy visited the Living Center last week to share with residents her recent trip along the Santa Fe Trail.

Her trail ride began in Wamego and ended in Santa Fe, N.M., with many stops in-between. She was a chaperone for fifth and sixth grade students.

Remy showed pictures and described her experiences on the 12-day trip. She brought back bags of spices, multi-colored beans, corn used to make pesole soup, and a life-sized gecko.

Resident bakers mixed up a batch of double chocolate oatmeal cookies June 12, a recipe from Jolene Hookie of David City, Neb.

Lois Winter and Bill Schimpf were bingo masterminds in the afternoon.

Gene Vinduska brought his accordion and provided entertainment June 13.

The Rev. Carl Helm from Marion Christian church led the afternoon worship service June 14, and Donna Hayen played the piano.

Residents played hangman and worked on a word search June 15.

Members of the resident council met June 16. Activities for the Fourth of July were discussed. A flag will be placed in the courtyard. A portion of the resident rights document was reviewed and discussed.

Dick Pracht returned to prayer group June 17, after a month’s sabbatical.

Frankie Turner, Mary Ann Weins, and Luke Siebert brought blueberry and apricot scones and coffee cake later in the day.

Several residents boarded bus Thursday for lunch, shopping, and a drive.
