National Volunteer Week concluded last week with the recognition of the dining room volunteers at the senior center — those who deliver 35 meals per day and assist with signing in those who eat at the centers.
More volunteers are needed one morning a week to help Meals on Wheels volunteers as they prepare to leave the center and to serve meals at the center. Contact Janet Bryant at (620) 382-2942 for more information.
Shirley Bowers brought some mystery flowers, which were identified by Virginia Downing as Show on the Mountain.
Ann LeBlanc, a student from Kansas State University studying to be a dietitian, gave a presentation April 26 about the food pyramid.
April 28 was National Walk at Lunch Day so most of the 60 people dining at the center walked to the songs, “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “We’re Marching to Zion,” accompanied by Shirley Bowers on the piano.
St. Luke Hospital Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Armstrong gave an overview of a building project at the hospital.
Merle Ecklund and Deb Harrington will perform a musical program May 12.
