Marion Senior Center correspondent

The center has had three people volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels in response to pleas for help — Shirley Bowers, Dorothy Conyers, and Betty Crumrine. Thirty meals are delivered every day.

Irene Richmond celebrated her 94th birthday at the center Sept. 9. She provided ice cream cups.

Joan Meyer read a letter pertaining to Sept. 11. The letter-writer was from overseas, a friend of Joan’s and her late husband, Bill.

An AARP driver education course may be available to seniors at the Marion center in late October or early November if there is an interest.

A business meeting was Sept. 15 with president Shirley Moore presiding. Velora Ciero provided a musical program.

Joe Picket of St. Luke Hospital will provide a program Sept. 29.

For reservations, call (620) 382-2942 by 9 a.m. Each meal includes choice of coffee, iced tea, milk, or water.

Thursday – Roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots, peaches, whole-wheat rolls.

Friday – Turkey slices and gravy over dressing, cucumbers and tomatoes, upside down cake, whole-wheat rolls.

Monday – Lasagna, coleslaw, fruit cocktail, breadsticks.

Tuesday – Smothered chicken breast over brown rice, applesauce, mandarin oranges, whole-wheat rolls.

Sept. 29 – Smothered pork chops, sweet potatoes, winter blend vegetables, fruit, whole-wheat rolls.
