Center stays open despite snow
Marion Senior Center correspondent
Despite several inches of snow Jan. 10, Marion Senior Center remained open. The center only closes due to weather when Marion schools close.
Roger Bitner provided ice cream cups in honor of his birthday Jan. 6. After lunch, Dick Varenhorst outlined Kansas sesquicentennial events and opportunities..
Elvis impersonator Marc Baker of Wichita performed Jan. 8 at the center, attracting friends from Wichita, Newton, Canton, and Peabody.
Thelma Blosser brought homemade cookies to celebrate her birthday on Jan. 10.
Gretchen Wagner of Parkside Homes in Hillsboro gave a presentation Jan. 12.
Merle Ecklund and Deb Harrington will provide a music program Jan. 26.

For reservations, call (620) 382-2942 by 9 a.m. Each meal includes choice of coffee, iced tea, milk, or water.
Thursday – Smothered steak, mashed potatoes, mixed fruit, whole-wheat roll.
Friday – Sloppy joes, tater tots, pickles, carrot sticks, fruit crisp.
Monday – Sweet and sour chicken over rice, winter mix, pears, whole-wheat roll.
Tuesday – Chili with beans, coleslaw, cinnamon roll, fruit, crackers.
Jan. 26 – Meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, creamed peas, baked apple, whole-wheat roll.
