Seniors celebrate with cake

Marion Senior Center correspondent

Seniors celebrated the royal wedding at the center with a chocolate biscuit cake with chocolate syrup. Virginia Downing asked cook Theresa Graham to make it, offering to buy the ingredients. Janet Bryant wore a tiara while serving the cake.

Poem in Your Pocket day was observed April 28 at the center. Theresa Graham read about a dog named Fred. Janet Bryant read, “After Forty Years of Marriage, She Tries a New Recipe for Hamburger Hot Dish.” Joan Meyer read a poem she remembered her grandmother reciting at Christmas. Fred Puttroff promised to write a poem for next year about delivering Meals on Wheels.

May 2 was Lumpy Rug Day at the center with activities to do at home.

Jan Davis, art instructor and owner of Gallery 101, brought paintings May 4 to the center. She also talked to seniors about the Art and Music Stroll on June 12.

Eileen Sieger will give a presentation about raising orchids May 18 at the center.
