CORRESPONDENTS: Senior Center

Marion Senior Center correspondent

Marion Senior Center has been celebrating many birthdays. Harvey Wells provided treats July 30. Ralph Popp brought candy July 1. Gerry Mills celebrated Aug. 4.

Center staff talked July 30 about heart-healthy foods, ranging from tofu to dark chocolate.

Rowena Plett provided wonderful coverage in the Marion County Record about cowboy Dusty Bina and his horse, who were guests at the center.

Joan Meyer brought extra copies of the Record so people could decorate a rhino for Night of the Rhino.

Duane Freed spoke Aug. 5 about reverse mortgages. He has scanned the city’s Web site and quizzed seniors on their knowledge of the town.

Senior Center Day will be Aug. 19. A musical program will be provided by members of the Herbel family.

An additional program is planned Aug. 21 when the center will play host of the county senior centers board. Field representative Diane Euler will sing.

Seniors are welcome to walk to music at 11:10 a.m. each day.
