Several residents attended the senior fair Sept. 22 in Salina. Adeline Bernhardt was honored as Marion County’s keynoter. Family members who came to support her included her children, Barney and Linda Bernhardt of Wichita, and Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington; and her sisters, Ellen Erickson of Tacoma, Wash., and Leona Kleiber. Other attendees were Tom and Dee Duggan, Ramona Beisel, Laveta Meyer, Tillie Hein, and Jane Vajnar.

Members of the Tampa Community Association met Sept. 17 to make plans for the Oct. 11 Santa Fe Trail Fest. The event will include karaoke, a cakewalk, kids’ games, a medallion hunt, wagon rides, music by Alice Thomas, a presentation by Lynley Remy, hotdog roast, and bingo. The group also discussed some tentative plans for the community Christmas party and first-Sunday game nights during winter.

Dave and Caterina Rziha, Isabel and Samuel, spent Sept. 17 through 19 with Jerry and Jeanne Rziha.

Lucille Kerbs attended a junior high volleyball game Sept. 22 in Abilene. Her granddaughter Taylor Thompson is on the team. Other family members attending were Doug and Connie Thompson and Allison and Barbara Stensaas of Abilene.

Gloria Spohn met Lenora Graham and her friend Paulette of Florence Sept. 21 in Hillsboro. They attended the first session of Learning in Retirement at Tabor College.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer attended services for Duane Brunner Sept. 21 in Herington.

Prairie Pals met Sept. 22 at the home of Mary Clemmer with Laveta Meyer assisting as a host. Other attendees included Lori Meyer, Maleah and Mason; Michele Berens; Jeanne Rziha; Annette Sneary; and Jane Vajnar.

Ryan and Jamie Spohn of Manhattan, Steve and Sheri Spohn of Hope, and Gary and Carole Spohn celebrated Georgia Spohn’s 90th birthday Sept. 20 with dinner out in Abilene.

Ellen Erickson of Tacoma, Wash., spent Sept. 20 through 25 with her sister, Leona Kleiber.

Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn, Aston Smith and Sydney, and Lucille Kerbs ate dinner out Sept. 20 in Abilene. Afterward they visited Doug and Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor, and Jeremy Sluder.

Gene and Alice Malir of Wilson were Sept. 18 visitors of Margaret Jirak. The Malirs brought their houseguests Maria Svoboda, Vasclav Svoboda, and David of Prague, Czech Republic.

Dinner guests of Leona Kleiber Sept. 23 were Ellen Erickson, Lydia Evans of Haysville, and Adeline Bernhardt. Afternoon visitors were Don and Cecile Penney of Topeka and Lucille Kerbs.

Bev Reid of Marion, Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, and Edna Backhus attended the Sept. 19 Arts and Crafts Fair in Hillsboro.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer, and Lisa Hanschu and Anna attended a barbecue Sept. 19 at the Lincolnville Park in celebration of Khloe Funk’s first birthday. Khloe is the daughter of Nathan and Wendy Funk of Lincolnville.

Ellen Erickson of Tacoma, Wash., was a houseguest Sept. 17 through 21 of Adeline Bernhardt. Helen Benson of Independence, Mo., was an overnight guest Sept. 19 and 20, and Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington were Sept. 19 overnight guests. Don Witt was a Sept. 20 visitor.

Kaylee Hall was an overnight guest Sept. 18 of her grandparents Tom and Dee Duggan. The next morning, Dee and Kaylee attended a brunch and fashion show in Abilene.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion were hosts for a potluck dinner Sept. 20 at their home. Guests were Ellen Erickson of Tacoma, Wash.; Lynn Kleiber and Nicholas of Salina; Dale and Andrea Klenda and Elijah of Pilsen; Dean and Becky Routh, Allison, Melody, and Danielle of Augusta; Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wichita; and Adeline Bernhardt.

Lori Moldenhauer met her daughter, Nikki Stenzel, Sept. 18 in Manhattan for dinner.

Tom and Dee Duggan, Adeline Bernhardt, and Jane Vajnar attended the Marion County Senior Citizens Board meeting Sept. 18 in Peabody.

Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Sept. 18 and 19 for a garage sale she and her daughter, Connie Thompson, was having.

Members of the Shady Ladies chapter of the Red Hat Society went to Council Grove Sept. 15. They toured the Terwilliger House and did some shopping. Participating were Joyce Cox of Abilene, Ramona Gorake and Betty Schlesener of Hope, Rhea Kolling, Helen Sorenson, Alice Bell, and Karolyn Schlesener of Herington, Ramona Beisel, and Dee Duggan.

Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn were guests Sept. 15 of Terry and Linda Schmidt.

Phyllis Mueller, Rod Mueller, Adeline Bernhardt, Jane Vajnar, and Paul and Edna Backhus attended the Sept. 13 Wiyos concert at the Lincolnville Community Center.

Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki were Sept. 13 visitors of Frank and Anna Mae Stika.

Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Jane Vajnar attended a reception Sept. 13 at Strassberg Baptist Church for Charles and Ruth Heiser’s 65th anniversary and Norma Raccuglia’s 85th birthday.

Sunflower Senior Citizens had an outing to Yoder Sept. 10 to explore and have dinner out. Participants were Tom and Dee Duggan, Jim and Mary Clemmer, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Tillie Hein, Magdalen Dvorak, Shirley Zaideman, Kathy Oborny, Lucille Bernhardt, and Jane Vajnar.

Tampa Alumni Association officers met Sept. 15 at the home of Edna Bernhardt to plan the alumni banquet. Present were the Rev. Paul Oborny, Tom Duggan, and Mary Ann Frantz.

Paul and Edna Backhus, Gerald and Alice Yoackhum of Wichita, Mildred Bernhardt of Lyons, Lydia Evans of Haysville, and Bill and Ruth Taylor of Shawnee spent Sept. 5 and 6 in De Kalb, Ill. They attended the wedding of David and Christina Richter and reception. The bridegroom is a grandson of the Taylors and a great-nephew of the others attending.

Carl Hubbard of Wellington was a Sept. 9 dinner guest of Adeline Bernhardt.

Sydney Smith spent Sept. 9 with her great-grandmother Lucille Kerbs.

Greg Sklenar spent Sept. 6 and 7 with his mother, Lois Sklenar. Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro was also a Sept. 6 guest.

Connie Thompson and Taylor of Abilene were overnight guests Sept. 6 of Lucille Kerbs.

Leona Kleiber and Lynn and Peggy Kleiber attend the rosary for Ruby Vinduska Sept. 4 in Marion. Lynn and Peggy were overnight guests of Leona.

Tom and Dee Duggan spent Sept. 1 and 2 in Lee’s Summit, Mo., to watch their grandson, Adam Hall, compete in a swim meet.
