Relatives and friends gathered at the home of Alma and Dennis Meyer July 29 to celebrate Alma’s 98th birthday. Her daughter, Marlene Brunner, and Mya Bolden came from Nebraska. They provided a birthday cake. Others present were John Backhus of Enterprise, Frieda Bentz, Wilbert and Donna Backhus, and Monica, Max, and Aiden Svoboda.
Hank and Janet Deines of Pollock Pines, Calif., Melvin Mohn of Lyons, and Gary Spohn visited Georgia Spohn Aug. 3. They had dinner out and visited Carol Spohn at the senior center where she was serving on the election board.
Debbie Dody of Manhattan, Dolores Scott of Emporia, and Pam Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls visited Tillie Hein Aug. 4. They had dinner out in Durham and did some shopping in Hillsboro.
Darla Hall and Adam of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington, and Tom and Dee Duggan joined other relatives July 30 and 31 at the home of Don and Betty Frick in Topeka for a Duggan family reunion.
Many Tampa people attended the Marion County Fair. Local 4-H members earned champion and reserve champion and many purple ribbons in a number of categories.
Peggy Kleiber visited Leona Kleiber the morning of July 31.
Margaret Grochowsky and Abigail Sutton of Topeka visited Mary Clemmer. The group then visited Jane Vajnar.
