Letters are requested to support a grant application, proposed by PRIDE, for park improvements. Residents should submit letters to Michele Berens before Oct. 1. PRIDE members met Aug. 21 at the senior center to finalize plans for a co-ed ball tournament. The committee also discussed plans for the Santa Fe Trail Fest and reviewed needs for the grant application for a park at the former high school. The fest is planned for Oct. 9 and includes a medallion hunt, cakewalk, quilt show, tractor show, children’s games, a meal, and entertainment.
Two of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha’s daughters had been visiting but have now returned to college. Julie, who left Aug. 22, is attending Benedictine College in Atchison and Cecilia is completing graduate studies at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas. She left Aug. 25.
