Sunflower Senior Citizens met Sept. 14 at the senior center for a monthly potluck and business meeting. Gary and Carole Spohn were hosts. Amber Peterson presented information about a park grant. Sketches of the proposed project were shown with input requested from the seniors. Members requested benches and a horseshoe pit. A walking trail was suggested by Peterson. Seniors were encouraged to send letters of support by Oct. 1 to be included with the grant application.
The senior citizens chapter welcomed two new members — Darlene Cramer and Betty Mueller. Others in attendance included Tom and Dee Duggan, Don and Carol Zaideman, Shirley Zaideman, Mary Clemmer, Magdalen Dvorak, Vernie Konecny, Tillie Hein, Frank Patton, Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernhardt, and Jane Vajnar. The group planned an outing for Oct. 13 to Tall Grass Prairie Preserve and other points of interest around Cottonwood Falls with a possible scenic drive to Council Grove.
Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene on Sept. 14, and then accompanied her daughter, Connie Thompson, to Salina for dinner out and shopping.
Nikki Stenzel and Mark Gilford of Manhattan, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer, and Lisa Hanschu and Anna attended a party Sept. 12 in Central Park, Marion, to celebrate Khloe Funk’s second birthday.
Sydney Smith spent Sept. 13 with her great-grandmother, Lucille Kerbs.
Linda Ihde, Tillie Hein, Mary Clemmer, Edna Mueller, and Adeline Bernhardt attended fun night Sept. 12 at the senior center in Ramona.
Nikki Stenzel and Mark Gilford of Manhattan and Lori Moldenhauer went to the state fair Sept. 11 in Hutchinson. Tampa youth who exhibited at the state fair did well.
Steve Spohn of Hope and Georgia Spohn ate dinner out Sept. 11 in Woodbine.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika attended a volleyball tournament Sept. 11 at Centre to watch their granddaughter, Anna Weber, play.
Lori Moldenhauer and Anna Mae Stika attended a women’s salad supper Sept. 8 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marion.
