Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber attended the funeral of Ruth Backhus March 9 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Lyons Creek, Herington.
Sunflower Senior Citizens met March 8 at the senior center. Darlene Cramer and Jane Vajnar were hosts. Frances Turner of Marion gave a presentation on handwriting analysis. Others in attendance were Tom and Dee Duggan, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Mary Clemmer.
Jim Srajer and Tillie Hein went to Enid, Okla., March 7 for the funeral of Alice Srajer Zaloudek, Tillie’s sister-in-law.
Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham and Paulette Zook of Florence March 7 in Hillsboro to attend the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College. Ken Ratzlaff of the University of Kansas spoke about scientific exploration in Antarctica.
Meg Grochowsky of Topeka visited Mary Clemmer March 6 and brought 23 copies of a book by John Van Gundy, the brother of Mary’s grandmother.
A pancake feed and game night March 6, sponsored by Tampa PRIDE, was well attended at the senior center.
Sydney Smith and Lucille Kerbs were dinner guests March 7 of Russ and Julie Kerbs.
Steve and Sheri Spohn of Hope, Leo and Sue Yanda, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Georgia Spohn ate supper out March 5 in Hope. They celebrated Carole’s birthday.
Tom and Dee Duggan, Adeline Bernhardt, and Leona Kleiber attended the funeral of Bonnie Crandall at Lincolnville. Crandall was a resident of Tampa for many years before moving to Salem Home in Hillsboro.
Mary Clemmer had an opportunity to see her great-grandson, Alex Sutton, on television Feb. 27. He was captain of a quiz team from Hayden Catholic School in Topeka. The team defeated McPherson.
A salad supper and World Day of Prayer service, sponsored by the St. John’s Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, was March 3. Joyce Medley was in charge of the program and the Rev. Clark Davis gave a short talk. Others in attendance were Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Janet Bielefeld, Michele Berens, Phyllis Mueller, Edna Backhus, Kathy Davis, Becky Davis, Gertie Monnich, Leola Neuschafer, Paula Morgan, Sharon Mueller, Sue Yanda, and Lucille Kerbs.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended a dinner and meeting March 3 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees at Morris County Senior Center in Council Grove. Jody Sellers, the director of the pharmacy at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove and an employee at Fort Riley, provided a program.
Last week
Tom and Dee Duggan went March 1 to the Hilltop Community Center in Herington for lunch and cards. Later they were supper guests of Deb Hall and Kaylee.
Visitors of Frank and Anna Mae Stika the evening of March 1 were Lori Moldenhauer, Lisa Hanschu, and Anna Weber.
Georgia Spohn met Paulette Zook and Lenora Graham of Florence Feb. 28 in Hillsboro for a Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College followed by dinner out.

Tampa State Bank sponsored a luncheon and meeting for farmers March 2 at the senior center.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended a breakfast and charity auction on Feb. 27 in Pilsen.
Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson Feb. 26 in Abilene and they had dinner out.
Tom Duggan attended Agri-Producers annual meeting Feb. 26 at the senior center. Duggan also attended a retirement reception for Mary Costello Feb. 24 at Tampa State Bank in Marion.
