Sunflower Senior Citizens met Aug. 9 at the senior center. Hostesses were Betty Mueller and Jane Vajnar. A program by Gayla Ratzlaff followed the noon potluck. Ratzlaff showed pictures and talked about her climb last summer up Mount Bierstadt. Others present were Tom and Dee Duggan, Leo and Sue Yanda, Adeline Bernhardt, and Mary Clemmer.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber of Salina and Adeline Bernhardt were Aug. 7 afternoon visitors of Leona Kleiber. Adeline was a frequent visitor during the week, helping her sister, Leona.
Jared Backhus and children and his mother were Aug. 7 afternoon visitors of Paul and Edna Backhus.
Julie Rziha arrived Aug. 6 to spend a couple of weeks with her parents, Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, before returning to Benedictine College in Atchison. Julie has spent the summer on a Catholic mission trip. She and her teammates worked in an orphanage, an AIDS house, and a refuge in Honduras. They also did repair work on houses and schools in Louisiana, Texas, and New Mexico. Her teammates were from California, south Texas, South Dakota, and Virginia.
Gary and Carole Spohn and Gerogia Spohn met Ryan Spohn, Adam and Lauren for dinner in Hillsboro Aug. 6.
Lyal and Julie Sader of Salina brought dinner to Frank and Anna Mae Stika Aug. 6.
Tom and Dee Duggan went to Bartlesville, Okla., Aug. 2. After spending the night with Darlene and Ernie Kite, all spent Aug. 3 and 4 with Steve and Lisa Kite in Van Buren, Ark., and made acquaintance with the Kites’ new daughter, Matilda. The Duggans were overnight guests of the Kites in Bartlesville on Aug. 4 and returned to Tampa on Aug. 5.
Mary and Ron Clemmer attended the funeral of Allen Schick July 29 at Lincolnville. Schick spent a lot of time at the Clemmer home as a child.
Jane Vajnar went to a graveside service for Scott Hummer Aug. 2 in Carneiro. Jane has been a longtime friend of his wife, Edith (Sheridan) Hummer.
Wayne Rziha, Cecilia, Anthony, and Daniel of Tulsa, Okla., were July 30 and 31 guests Jerry and Jeanne Rziha.
Darla Hall and Adam of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington were July 30 and 31 guests of Tom and Dee Duggan. The group celebrated Darla and Dee’s birthdays.
Ryan Spohn, Adam and Lauren, were overnight guests July 31 of Gary and Carole Spohn. Georgia Spohn was an evening visitor.
Adeline Bernhardt accompanied Mildred Bernhardt of Lyons on July 31 to Marion for a family reunion. The group had a potluck dinner, program, and prizes were given for guessing the number of candies in jars.
Cole Srajer and Dylan Deines played on the Cottonwood Valley All-Stars team July 30 and 31 during the Cal Ripken Regional Tournament in Marion. Cole was selected as MVP during one of the games.
Lorraine Havlik of Marion was an afternoon visitor July 31 of Lucille Kerbs.
Ted and Maxine Zielinski, Tim Zielinski and Charlie, and Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., spent July 30 and 31 visiting Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole, and Tillie Hein. They also watched Cole play in a baseball tournament.
Cecilia Rziha of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jerry and Jeanne Rziha returned home July 29 after spending a week in Chippewa Falls, Wis. Along the way they were overnight guests of John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, Thomas, Charles, Anna, and Henry in Atchison. While there they visited Susie Rziha; Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew, Peter, Maria, John, Michael, and Juliet; and Emilio and Janie Aita, Antonio, Sebastian, Raphael, and Mariana. They attended the baptism of Juliet Herron. On the way home, they visited Wayne and Sarita Penka of Omaha, Neb.

Jane Vajnar spent July 27 through 29 in Missouri to attend services for her cousin, Wilbur Jones.
Elmer Gooding of Tempe, Ariz., was an overnight guest July 20 of his sister, Lucille Kerbs. They ate supper out with Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn and Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney in Lost Springs.
