Prairie Pals met April 27 at the home of Jeanne Rziha with Virginia Bentz assisting as host. Cheri Bentz presented a lesson about different styles of learning she gleaned from Leadership Marion County. Others in attendance were Michele Berens, Mary Clemmer, Iona Dietrich, Melissa Stuchlik, Jane Vajnar, and Tyler Bentz. Roll call was answered by naming a book members recently read.

Edna Mueller and Adeline Bernhardt ate dinner out April 27 in Salina.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham and Paulette Zook April 26 in Hillsboro. They attended Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College by David Wiebe, a retired orthopedic surgeon. The women ate dinner out in Marion.

Dale and Andrea Klenda were hosts of a party and barbecue supper April 25 celebrating their son, Elijah’s, second birthday. Elijah opened presents and had a tractor cake, made by his parents. Guests were Lenora Kleiber, Dennis and Terry Klenda and Tyler, Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion, and Tim and Amanda Baxa of Kansas City.

Mary Clemmer received word of the death of a friend, Russ Cueller. He had worked for Mary’s late husband, Jim, in a Singer sewing machine store in El Dorado and later owned a store in Newton.

Glenn Kerbs was an overnight guest April 24 of his mother, Lucille Kerbs. Additional guests after church April 25 were Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn and Ashton Smith and Sydney.

Jeanne Rziha joined her mother, Bonnie Haslouer of Abilene, and her sisters to spend a weekend in Dallas. They attended the wedding of Mollie Whitehair and Charles Gilliland. Jeanne stayed with her daughter, Cecilia Rziha, and participated in a variety of activities with her. A highlight was attending Mass April 25 at a Cistercian monastery.

Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik and Allie hosted a birthday party and barbecue April 25 in celebration of Tanner Stuchlik’s sixth birthday. A tractor birthday cake was made and decorated by his mother. Guests included Frances Stuchlik, Leona Kleiber, Monte and Sarah Stuchlik, Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion, Mike and Candee Thode of Wichita, and Ross and Megan Stuchlik.

Lucille Kerbs, Rustyn Kerbs, and Ashton Smith and Sydney attended the funeral for Don Phillips, the father of Lucille’s granddaughter, Allison Phillips, April 24 at Emmanuel Church in Abilene. Burial was at the New Basel Cemetery. Other family members attending were Tim and Marchelle Kerbs, Eloise Kerbs, Doug and Connie Thompson and Taylor, and Jeremy Sluder.

Leona Kleiber and Jane Vajnar accompanied Adeline Bernhardt to Centre High School April 23 for the junior-senior high school band and choir concert. Seniors exhibited their project with several students from Tampa participating.

Lucille Kerbs accompanied Julie Kerbs to the CHS spring concert. Ashton Smith and Sydney also attended. Rustyn Kerbs sang with the choir.
