Michelle Obama spoke June 22 to students and staff at Bret Harte Elementary School in San Francisco then helped with improvements to a park next to the school where Brenda Mueller, granddaughter of Art and Betty Mueller, teaches fourth grade.

Afterward, Brenda was interviewed by an ABC News reporter.

Adeline Bernhardt spent June 22 to 25 with Barney, Linda, and Megan Bernhardt of Wichita.

Sydney Smith spent June 24 with her great-grandmother, Lucille Kerbs.

Greg Sklenar of Wichita was an overnight guest June 24 of his mother, Lois Sklenar. Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro joined them in the afternoon.

Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki visited Frank and Anna Mae Stika for Father’s Day.

Lucille Kerbs visited Jan Meisinger June 23 in Hillsboro. She got to see many of the quilts Jan has made. They had dinner out.

Kathy Kroupa and Tillie Hein visited Martha Melcher in Herington then attended a card party June 21 at the parish hall.

Mac and Sarah Wood of Fayetteville, Ark.; Ryan and Jamie Spohn of Manhattan; Steve and Sheri Spohn of Hope; and Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn spent Father’s Day dinner at the cafe.

Visitors of Lois Sklenar on June 20 were Russ and Julie Kerbs, Ashton Smith and Sydney, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona KIeiber, and Willis and Eleanor Herbel. They were taking shelter from a storm in Lois’ basement.

A family picnic on Father’s Day at Herington Lake included Frank and Anna Mae Stika; Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna; Tom and Lori Moldenhauer; Jim Weber; and Kent Sly and his daughter and granddaughters.

Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan dined out on Father’s Day. Darla Hall and Adam telephoned.

Wheat trucks have been streaming into the elevator, and farmers are working long days to harvest their crop.

Dale Mueller of Folsom, Calif., arrived June 11 to help with harvest. He and his brother, David Mueller, were interviewed for a harvest feature on television.

Georgia Spohn joined 22 Pankratz cousins for supper out June 20 in Newton.

Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor of Abilene, and Lucille Kerbs had a garage sale June 19 and 20 in Abilene.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended a swim meet June 21 at Solomon. Their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, was competing.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska and Ruby Vinduska of Marion and Leona Kleiber had dinner June 14 at the cafe.

An item about family members who attended Anna Weber’s dance recital neglected to mention Anna as one of the students performing.
