Tim Baxa and Sophia of Wichita, Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nick of Salina, Raymond and Jane Baxa of Cuba, Dale and Andrea Klenda of Lincolnville, and Dean and Becky Routh and Allison of Augusta attended the University of Kansas Medical Center School of Medicine’s presentation of candidates for hooding and awards and presentation of diplomas at the Lied Center in Lawrence on May 12. Amanda Baxa was awarded the Family Medicine Award.

On May 13, Tim Baxa and Sophia, Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nick and Raymond, and Jane Baxa attended commencement exercises at the University of Kansas Memorial Stadium. Amanda Baxa received her doctor of medicine degree. Leona Kleiber was unable to attend.

Lucille Kerbs went to Salina on May 13 and joined Tim and Marchelle Kerbs and Molly Kerbs of Salina, Mark and April Reidy, Cierra and Josh of Manhattan, Kennith and Pat Pierce of Augusta and other relatives and friends of Raymond Deiser at the Hickory Hut dining room for a graduation dinner in Raymond’s honor. He graduated from Kansas Wesleyan on May 12.

Nikki Stenzel graduated with high honors from Kansas State University on May 12. Family members attending the honors program May 11 included Tom and Lori Moldenhauer, Anna Mae Stika, Betty Stenzel, and Greg Stenzel. Lisa Hanschu kept Frank Stika company while they were gone. Lisa took Frank and Anna Mae to Manhattan on May 12 to join the others for a reception in Nikki’s honor. They stayed overnight and celebrated Mother’s Day on May 13. Anna Weber joined them for the reception Saturday evening.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended the graduation reception for Nikki Stenzel in Manhattan on May 12. They met Darrell and Martha Albright of Lawrence, who told them they had read their names in the Tampa news so often they felt as if they knew them. Your correspondent is gratified by the reminder that people everywhere read the Tampa news.

JuliAnne Chisholm graduated with highest honors from Kansas State University on May 12 with a dual degree in life science and athletic training and minors in kinesiology and biology. Her emphasis was pre-medicine, and she will enter the University of Kansas School of Medicine in July.

Julie Rziha graduated with honors from Benedictine College in Atchison on May 12. Family members attending her commencement included Wayne Rziha of Tulsa, Okla., Cecilia Rziha of Oklahoma City, Okla., John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, Thomas, Charles, Anna, and Henry of Atchison, David and Catarina Rziha, Isabel, and Kathrine, and Jerry and Jeanne Rziha. All were weekend guests of John, Jeanne, and family, who were hosts for a graduation party for Julie after commencement.

Kaylee Hall of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan are spending two days in Springfield, Mo., visiting Adam Hall and helping him move.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence on May 15 for dinner in Marion.

Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., spent the weekend with his mother, Tillie Hein, and took her out for Mother’s Day dinner in Abilene. On May 12, they attended a baseball game in Marion to watch Cole Srajer play. Others in Cole’s cheering section included Ted and Maxine Zielinski of Omaha and Jim and Kris Srajer and Grant.

Enjoying Mother’s Day dinner out in Abilene on May 12 were Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Brad Backhus, Jason Backhus, Alisha Barney, and Paul and Edna Backhus. May 13 they gathered at Jason’s home for a barbecue supper.

Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn met Steve and Sheri Spohn in Abilene on May 13 for Mother’s Day dinner out.

Adeline Bernhardt spent from May 11 through May 14 with Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington. Additional guests for a pre-Mother’s Day dinner on May 12 were Clinton Hubbard of Wichita, Dee Anna, and Gabby Stout, Gabby’s girlfriend, Jessi, and Donna Hubbard of Wellington. On May 13, Carl, Kathy, and Adeline enjoyed dinner out. When Carl brought Adeline home on May 14, he did some chores.

Dean and Becky Routh and Allison were May 12 and 13 guests of Leona Kleiber. Terry and Cindy Vinduska joined them May 13 for Mother’s Day dinner at the café and an afternoon of visiting at Leona’s home.

Phyllis Mueller and Rod Mueller were May 13 dinner guests of Jim and Diane Heath of Salina. Other guests were Ron and Jody Heath, Danielle, and Tyler and other Heath family members.

Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson and Taylor in Abilene on May 12, and Jeremy and Allison Sluder joined them for dinner out.

Cindy Vinduska of Marion was a May 12 visitor of her mother, Leona Kleiber.

A large crowd attended the funeral of Cindy Bentz on May 11 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, followed by dinner at the senior center.

Tom and Dee Duggan visited Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington on May 11.

Lori Moldenhauer and Anna Mae Stika were hostesses for Tabitha Society on May 9 in Herington.

Dolores Scott of Emporia spent May 6 with her mother, Tillie Hein. She brought a meal and flowers for an early Mother’s Day celebration.
